From 14 days

We have carefully designed a sample itinerary that will show you the most of our 1650 bird species. Led by the most knowledgeable bird specialist in America and dear friend of this house Tony Nunnery . Our program will feature a visit to his private home in the slopes of Tandayapa where you can find over 3000 hummingbirds of 39 species in his backyard.

Our package is not a loop which aloud us to see more. Beginning in the Upper Andes home of the Andean Condor and the Chimborazo Hillstar, We have seeing in the area the torrent duck and the giant conebill and Andean cock of the Rock among others.

One of the special features is Tandayapa, the finest birding area of all over Latin America ; this is one of our mega diversity areas. A third feature coming with a strong birding reputation is Tinalandia which holds about 250 bird species like White-tipped Sicklebill, Chocó Trogon, Orange-fronted Barbet, Pale-mandibled Aracari, Rufous-fronted Wood Quail, Pallid Dove, Bronze-winged Parrot, rested Owl, White tipped Sicklebill, White whiskered Hermit, Green crowned Brilliant, Green Crowned Wood nymph, Purple-crowned Fairy

The flatlands near Quevedo, at Río Palenque and Jauneche a last refuge of the Harpy Eagle offers also Gray-backed Hawk, Rose-faced Parrot, Ecuadorian Trogon, Chocó Toucan, Scarlet-backed and Lita woodpeckers, and Scarlet-browed and Scarlet-and-white tanagers, Gray Hawk, Laughing falcon, Rufous-headed Chachalaca, Ecuadorian Ground dove, Maroon-tailed Parakeet, blue headed parrot, Bronzy, Stripe-throated, and Baron's hermits, Guira tanagers.

Finally in Guayaquil we look for the Guayaquil woodpecker and the rare great green macaw among other 200 tropical birds like the pale mandibled aracari, gray-backed hawk, Guayaquil woodpecker, blue tailed trogon and Esmeraldas antbird.  As we get close to the beach, we might find white tailed jay, pale-brown tinamon, Peruvian thick-knee, and red masked and gray-cheeked parakeets, along with many gulls, terns and shore birds, which indeed will include the fishing OSPREY .

A profile of our ornithologist on duty Tony Nunnery:

Tony is one of the most easygoing and delightful ornithologist you can find in South America , these qualities together with his huge knowledge and a particular hearing talent from the days he was learning music makes him the best guide.

He started guiding in Costa Rica as he used to spend every summer in Tarcoles lodge giving them a hand with the replies to customers and trying to play back the calls of birds he heard at the forest. He liked and he never came back to the U.S. , rather he moved the biological Chocó paradise where he established a farm, which holds a world record on humming birds: about 3000 birds from 29 Species!
