More about Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands at http://www.ecuaworld.com/

Guided excursions and canoe rides will take you to see native shamans, craftsmen, and giant trees in the virgin rain forest. Our Napo river lodges are an authentic paradise for lovers of the jungle's fabulous flora and fauna, especially bird watchers, who will have more than 500 identified species available. Upon request we offer special bird watching Safaris led by the best ornithologist.

Studies indicate that there are 4 observable species of caiman, 1 species of anaconda, 2 species of dolphins, 17 species of parrots, and at least 24 genus of palms; this is the last refuge for the Amazon manatee. The area's extensive bio-diversity has transformed it into the world's principal genetic bank.

Kapawi is one of the 10 most exotic destinations in the world and has set new standards for ecotourism which led them to get the year 2000 "Ecotourism Excellence Award".

The lodge provides sun-heated showers and electricity by photovoltaic system. The closest town is 10 days walking away and the area presents you the largest biodiversity in the world.

It is not just the pristine rain forest but also the sustainable relationship with the local Achuar Indian Community with the environment.

The Lodge can only be reached by aircraft, imagine yourself gliding in a private plane above the snow capped volcanoes of the Andes into the Amazon Forest

Napo Wild life Center ( Best Value )
(The closes parrot lick to the northern Hemisphere)

Napo wild Life Center

Everyone is welcomed to enjoy the views of parrots at the lick nearest the Napo (referred to locally as the Saladero de Loros ) and the in-the-forest parrot lick (referred to as the Saladero de Pericos ). The Napo Wildlife Center is investigating the possibility of putting blinds at some of the other clay licks in this unique and rich area. Rumors include a huge cave-like clay lick visited by tapir, brocket deer, monkeys, and a host of other mammals and also a huge wall that is frequented by large macaws! Although blinds are not currently in place, and the area is not open to guests from other lodges, adventurous clients of the Napo Wildlife Center might be able to talk their native guides into taking them to some of these other special attractions....

The lodge consists of 10 luxury cabañas and a large dining hall with a library and a well-stocked bar.

The rooms are huge (6x7 meters!), always clean, and include:

• one king-sized bed and one twin-sized bed (up to 3 people)
• private bathrooms with on-demand hot water
• private porches with lake views
• 24-hour electricity with plenty of lights and plenty of 120v outlets

You will also see the colonist settlers and oil exploitation that is beginning on the shores of the Ñapo River . When we arrive to the border town of Nueva Rocafuerte , we will go to our hotel, have dinner and take a tour of this charming Ecuadorian town located across from Perú. During our tour you will always enjoy 3 meals daily and there will be plenty of water available. Don't forget your hat, sunglasses and sunscreen for the boat ride down the Napo River .

DAY 2:

We will have an early breakfast, a walk in Yasuni National Park , lunch in the forest and during the day we will keep a watchful eye out for the charming and mysterious Amazon River and Gray Dolphins and, a variety of birds, animals, medicinal plants. Your guide will inform you on the ecology of the area and answer any questions that you may have. We will have dinner and spend our second and last night in Nueva Rocafuerte.

DAY 3:

After breakfast, we begin our day paddling towards Perú while admiring the scenic beauty of the mouths of the Yasuni and Aguarico Rivers . After the Aguarico River , we will be entering the Peruvian border town of Pantajo where we will attend to immigration procedures and make a brief visit to the town. From now on, we will sleep in tents along the shores of the Ñapo River or possibly at times, in a resident's home.

DAY 4 TO DAY 10

As we descend the Ñapo in Perú, we will have the opportunity to visit sites of interest and villages along the way. We will always be on the look out for any birds and animals that may come our way and of course, we will have time to sport fish. In the Ñapo and its' tributaries, there are over 500 species of fish. Hopefully on occasion, we will be accompanies by dolphins during our descent. You will see that we are off the beaten track on this adventure and you will live an unforgettable adventure traveling through the heart of Amazonia . We will be cooking with camp fires and enjoying some unforgettable recipes. After our arrival at Mazan, Perú, we will make your connection for Iquitos and then leave you off to your own adventure. Our services end in Mazan and we hope you enjoy the rest of your trip through Peru .

Río Aguarico to the Mouth of the Ñapo : 592 kms
Río Curaray to the Mouth of the Ñapo : 362 kms

In most cases, one does not see where the Napo empties into the Amazon River . Travellers usually get out at Mazan, take overland transportation for about 1 kilometer and then a motorized boat 84 kms to Iquitos . This can save a day or two of travel.
